Solved cant open a downloaded file

Specs: Windows XP
ive got a midi keyboard called a yamaha kx25 and i had no software to opperate it with so ive downloaded it offer yamaha's download site and i now cant open the file and use the software it comes up as "zip is not a valid win32 application" what do i do to resolve this software problem

7-Zip is fine but XP does have it's own zip and unzip:

It won't handle a RAR file though, if that's what it happens to be. I have 7-Zip for that purpose alone but don't let it it touch other file types as it is easy enough in Windows.

Delete the file & download it again.

What's the file name? Windows should open a zip file unless it's lost the file association for zip files or you can use something like winzip.

If it does turn out to be a file association problem the registry fix is here:

I don't think WinXP has an unzipper built in. You may need to download one. I use 7zip for my compressed files. Handles most formats.
