Can't install HP SCSI scanner

February 16, 2005 at 17:53:30
Specs: windows 2000 pro, AMD 2.2Ghz/500MB

On startup the Found New Hardware Wizard opens up and says could not install scanner, because "Required section not found in INF." What the heck does that mean?

All I can do at that point is agree by clicking finish, there are no other options, and then I can't find the scanner anywhere els in the system. It dosn't show up in Device manager, or while trying to Install new hardeware.

One thing that does show up though is HP C2520A SCSI Processor Device, and it has a (?) by it, but if I click on that it says it's working fine.

I'm stumped. Please help.

The INF file is a driver file that is neede for the computer to recognize the device. If the Win 2K does not have the required INF files to support it, it will not work. Your only resolve is to visit and download the drivers for your scanner. I'm assuming you do not have the disk that came with your scanner so while you're there you should download and install the software that is included as well. It should solve your problem.

I have the drivers, but I can't find the scanner anywhere in the system, only HP C2520A SCSI prosseser device, and that says it's working fine or I would try to reinstall some the drivers I have to it. I cant find that Item in the device mangager either, only in the Install New Hardware controll pannel, where it says it's wrking fine and dosn't let me change anything.
