Can't install DVD R/RW driver

September 20, 2009 at 04:43:25
Specs: Windows XP

I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop and I recently had to reformat.

I have managed to reinstall all drivers apart from the driver for the DVD R/RW drive.

My Dell has a NEC ND-6650A DVD R/RW drive and I have successfully downloaded the correct driver for the system - however whenever I execute the file to install the driver I get the error:

'Target NEC ND-6650A is not found correctly'

I have tried downloading the driver from a variety of sources, but all drivers deliver the same error message!

Help! I'm out of ideas, and having no DVD R/RW is driving me mad!

Your computer is showing the Error 39 for your CD Drive. This can sometimes be caused by Updates, and other things. To fix this I would like you to:

Click Start
Click Run
Type in " regedit" and click Ok

When in the registry editor I would like you to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class \ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

In this folder I would like you to delete the Upperfilter and Lowerfilter values. Please BACKUP your registry before taking these actions, by clicking on My Computer and clicking File -> Export in the Editor.

after this is performed, restart and see if i works

our patience is big
