can't install an OS on old xseries205 server

Specs: currently None, hopefully Ubuntu
Trying to put the newest Ubuntu server (11. something) on to this old server. It installs correctly except during start up it drops into a shell as it can't find the root folder of my home directory.

The server also doesn't have any SCSI Bios installed. not sure if would effect the installation process.
Any thoughts would be great on this as i'm a little lost on how to continue.

Servers don't have scsi bios installed, the scsi adapter has that.

To make life easier try OpenSuse or Centos. Stock versions have better server support.

How did you test the CD?

What does /var logs say?

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
