Why? A RAM upgrade will work immediately, IF it's done correctly. There is no waiting involved - either it works or it doesn't.
There's nothing to it. Just unplug the power, remove the main battery, flip the laptop over & remove the access door that covers the RAM. Then remove the old, insert the new & close it back up again. Assuming the new RAM is compatible, the only thing that could go wrong is that you're not fully seating the modules in the slots.
