Cant get sound on my pc

January 26, 2013 at 11:41:14
Specs: Windows 25.01.2010, AMD Athlon X24050e 320GB

My son has an emachine pc in his room for school movies and games, no internet. In the last week the sound stopped working. I have checked all plugs and the speakers on another pc and all are in or are working fine. I have brought the pcu in and hooked it up to the web (using it now) to check for driver updates. I have tried several things and no results. I have restored my settings, I have gone in the system and checked and all things are lit up in green and I am now downloading "restore pc sound" to see if that works. so far nothing! Help

On the desktop, right click on My Computer, click Properties, then click Device Manager. Are they any yellow exclamation points on the list?

Have you looked in Device Manager to see if the sound is marked as working properly.

That computer appears to have come with powered USB speakers. If that is correct are the speakers connected to a USB port and to house power?

You may have an icon in the tray by the clock called sound or audio manager. Check out the settings in there. Be sure no settings in there or in the Windows speaker control are muted.
