If you got a cd with your machine with the motherboard chipset drivers on it, you have to install those for realtek to work. If you don't have a disk, you can go to the manufacture's website and download them there.

I'm talking about the manufacturer's website of your motherboard. You have to finsd out the make and model # of your mobo and download and install the chipset drivers for sound from the website. This is of course if you are using the onboard sound built into the mobo and not an addon card you purchased and installed.

In fact you need to install 'all' the drivers for your motherboard.

Why did you do the wipe & reinstall Windows in the 1st place??

You need to install drivers for the motherboard chipset, video, sound, network, etc. All of that stuff *could* have been easily identified BEFORE you wiped the drive...now it's gonna take some work. There's no way any of us can help you unless we know the make/model of the motherboard. Since you apparently don't know, you either have to open the case & look for model numbers, or try software such as SIW or Everest to see if it can identify it for you.

Code 10 means you shouldn't have left another person who doesn't know what he's doing mess with the machine. Do you have any restore disks that came with the machine when you bought it. Or is there a restore partition on the machine that will let you restore it to it's original state. If so, start all over again.
