Can't find C: drive

i just replaced my old Asus P2b motherboard with another Asus P2b(used). when i'm trying to install windows 2000 Pro it allows me to partition the drive. then it even formats it and loads all the necessary files for set up. then it reboots in order to complete set up and i get this message: DISK BOOT FAILURE: INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER I booted into dos to see if i could locate the C drive, but when i type in c: and enter i get this message: Invalid Drive Specification.
i am making sure my boot sequence is correct so i know that's not the problem.
i don't understand what would be wrong with my hard drive or the connection if it was able to partition and format it.
Please any help would be appreciated. this is the first motherboard I've put together and i'm going crazy. i'm pretty sure i did it right since i copied the way the old one was set up. the old board was P2B rev. 1.04 and the new board is P2B rev. 1.02

try booting to DOS using clean boot disk with the FDISK utility. Run FDISK and make sure you can see the drive and partition(s). If no drives are present, check your jumper settings on the drive, and it should be attached to IDE 1. Also check to see if drive C: is the primary, and that it is set Active.
