Subject: Can't enter into bios on dell
OS: winxp
CPU/Ram: 512mb
Model/Manufacturer: Dell Inspiron 6000
Comment:
Im pretty good with computers so my friend gave me his laptop to sort out for him, it's a Dell Inspiron 6000 uk model.

I cannot for the life of me get into the bios or setup screen when the splash screen loads, it says press f2 to enter bios and f12 to enter setup, but pressing these does nothing, if i press f2 to enter bios i just get a black screen and if i press f12 i get the options of where to boot from using the arrow keys but the arrow keys are not moving anything it's just stuck on Internal HDD, any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

Could be a faulty keyboard and they are expensive to replace. Try plugging in an external keyboard and see if that makes any difference.

Obviously it's not working perfectly then. Did you try an external keyboard as Stuart suggested?

What was the original issue with the computer?

Go into the f12 and at the bottom you will see BIOS setup go into this and go into the boot order use the U/D keys to change the boot order might work using these keys after pressing f12.
