I can't delete my E partition. I want to delete it so that i can add the space back to my C: drive. I also tried shrinking it but i wouldn't let me add the unallocated data from that to the C: drive. Only let me add it to the E drive.

You should first move the paging file back to the C drive, though that might not be the reason it won't allow you to delete the E drive. There are software utilities, like Partition Magic, which would allow you to do this more easily. Can't you just take some space from the E drive without deleting it ?

I am not a Vista user but I imagine the Vista partitioning utility is the same in one respect. You generally can't split or merge space from NON contiguous partitions. What that means is you can add some or all of the E partition to the D partition but not to the C partition. This assumes that C & E are in fact separated by D.
The solution is to add some of E to D then add some of D to C.
All should not be undertaken before backing up your data.

Will it let you merge C: and E:?
Of course, like kx5m2g said, if the pagefile is on E: that will have to be changed first.
The picture link the OP posted shows D: as the first partition, then C: and E:. Very interesting! You learn something new every day. I always assumed that they hid the recovery image partition.
