Well, I THINK you are using the term CD rom loosely. If not, then your CD drive is a read only drive and is not capable of writing to any media.

Did your drive ever write disks?

What type of files are you trying to write?

Are you using a third party software suite for that procedure?

I was able to copy to cd's before. I would copy pictures from my file on the computer and now it says the E folder doesn't exist. I also have written other things to a disk for school work, but now I can't do that either. This just happened with in the last month.

I assume you mean the E drive? Is your CD drive showing in My Computer?

Are you using the same batch of CDR disk as you used before?

The usual message is to insert a blank disk. Your message indicates the CD drive isn't recognized by WinXP.

Does it show in Device Manager?

Yes it does show in Device Manager. I have used a different disk brand new out of package. If I am on document and right click to send to - click on cd drive which is named E/
is says E/ folder is not accessible.
When I am in my picture folder and I want to copy to a disk, I right click on the picture to send to and when the options come up there is no cd drive or E/ doesn't show at all. This just happened within the past month. I have not changed my driver or os, but I did load in windows 7 for a class I was in, not windows 7 os though. Just for word, excel and pwpnt.

Try using the Copy then Paste command. Browse in My Computer to find the CD drive. If that works then it is just a matter of rebuilding the send to list.
