Can't connect to Internet

September 18, 2011 at 19:24:22
Specs: Windows Vista
I have an HP Pavilion desktop PC. Granddaughter was playing a game on the Internet and the computer shut down. Have not been able to connect to the Internet since then. There is an error message ""Exception ESynapseError in module ezGameXN,dll at 000CDF0F57'. I am not sure if this is related. Our Internet provider said the problem is hardware as the computer is online and there is a valid IP address. Any suggestions as how to fix the problem so I can connect to the Internet? Thanks.

ISP techs always try passing the buck when it comes to problems.

Open IE and click on tools/internet options/connections and then uncheck 'Use Proxy server'
Then close IE and open it again and you should be able to get back online.

Then I would suggest you do a full scan with Malwarebytes and fix all it finds.

"Use proxy server" is not an option on the Connections tab. Can it be found elsewhere?

Use Proxy Server was not checked. I ended up restoring the computer to remove all files associated with EZGames through Skype. Then I found that a port on the router had gone bad. All is well now. Thank you for your help.
