can't boot to Windows

April 6, 2009 at 18:42:22
Specs: Win XP, 384
I use this desktop runnung Winxp sp3. I run a weather program that takes data from weather station and uploads this data to I went on the internet and determined my station was NOT on line. I went to the computer and it appeared that comm 1 was not working. Tried rebooting both the weather station and the computer. No help. Finally I decided to remove comm 1 from device manager so it could be rediscovered. Then I uninstalled the pci under system. Now my situation is that the keyboard and mouse are non functional. I can go to safe mode but cant use mouse or keyboard to do anything. I have two hard drive bays so I can easily plug in a different hard drive to verify mouse and keyboard & computer all work as advertised. At this point it is almost looking like I make the problem drive slave and use a differemt master drive. recover important files unless someone can HELP!
Any suggestions?

Problem solved sort of. I got the files off the drive that were important to me and abandoned / stored in case I missed something I might want later. Now if I can just figure out why the new 6GB drive is designated as I:\ instead of C:\. That will be my next post.
