Can't boot in safe mode nd log-in

Specs: Windows XP

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any new hard drive or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make it sure its properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption. and then restart your computer.

Why would you want to format? That's not how to fix things. You realize that you'll erase the drive & lose all your files & programs if you format, right? You don't format from safe mode have to boot off the XP disc to do it.

Did you do what the error message said?
