Hello, i have a big problem, my printer is not functioning anymore. It'a a CANON BJC 2000 inkjet printer. I'll explain how my problem started: first i tried to print something, but although the printer was aparently printing, there was no ink on the paper, so i've made a few print head clining jobs. that didn't resolve a thing. then i powered off my printer, and when i powerd it back againg i've realised that it refused to power on (it usualy performed print head clining at power on, now it doesn't do nothing, and i mean NOTHING)
If i try to print from my Win Xp Pro (no SP instaled and using the drivers from win) it shows me that the "thingie" is printing, but the printer is still dead, when i try to print from Win 98 SE with the printer's original drivers it gives me this mesage: "The used ink tank is full."
I think it's more of an electronical problem, i've tested for power on the printer's PCB, and it's ok, so that excludes the posible faulty psu..
I'll realy apreciate any help. thanks in advance!

Hi Florin.

"The used ink tank is full" means the excess ink that is left over from head cleanings has filled up the tank that catches this left over ink.

The tank has to be replaced.

The printer will not work until the tank is replaced.

You have to call Canon Service. By the way, it may cost more to have Canon replace the used ink tank than to buy a new printer.

This is on the Canon site -

Your printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. As time goes by, the waste ink tank gradually fills. When the waste ink tank is nearly full, you should receive a "Waste ink warning" error when you print. Press the RESUME button on the printer to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, have the waste ink tank replaced. For service option details, please contact the Customer Care Center. Once the waste ink tank is full, you will not be able to print until the waste ink tank is replaced.

Here is the link for getting Canon support.

Linda

It's me again :) I think i'm able to clean the used ink tank, but the question is: is the printer going to notice that all by itself, or a i have to tell it somehow?? (reset something ot stuff..) Considering that is a dead printer it sounds to me a good idea to try to recover it ;)
Wainting for ur replys ;)

Hi ghimpe.

Here are a couple of links if you want to attempt to clean the waste ink tank yourself.

Be sure to wear gloves.

The ink is very tough to get off your hands.

Go to near the bottom of this link -

where it says -
