Ok serious issues here:

I had my computer fixed by a local store when i had a certain issue. They fixed that issue and somehow made my computer much much worse. When in windows xp i cannot use my cdrom drives at all. They arent even recognized. I also cannot install drivers for specifically my graphics card. When i try to install the drivers it says it cannot find the specific hardware required for the driver, which i do have. So something seems to not recognize what exactly is inside my computer.

My first idea was to wipe my computer and reformat. I put the windows xp disc in and it boots from the cdrom... so it seems to find the cdrom prior to loading up xp. It begins the loading of the reformat and before it even gets to the wiping the drives part it just Gives this error "ql10wnt.sys is corrputed: press any key to continue" pressing any key forces to exit the setup and restart the computer. Therefore making it impossible to reinstall windows.

Someone please help me here. I havent found any other information on this type of problem or anything even related to the specific .sys file.

What was the original problem you had the tech. sort out? If you still have a problem then throw it back at him/her.
You can get a copy of your corrupted driver here:

If formatting/reinstalling is your only option then try using fdisk from a floppy to undo/redo the partition so you have a completely clean drive.

Johnr's advice is good.

However if you want to *TOTALLY* reformat the entire hdd and find you are unable to do so using fdisk/format.

To overcome this problem, would suggest first low level format the hdd. The program to do this can be downloaded from the hdd maker's website.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

IF this is a HP, Compaq or other Brand name PC, you might not want to just format the drive. It would contain a Partition for the System. I would take it back to the tech first and tell them to fix it. If it wasn't doing this before they fixed it, then they are responsible for fixing it. Just tell them what it is doing and that it wasn't doing it before.

awesome thank you guys very much for the replies. I cant just return the comp to the tech guys cuz I left for college the day they returned it to me and found out that other problems had arisen once I got here. I tried reformating with floppys but it got far enough in on disk 6 and then said to install xp hit enter. I hit enter, then it says hard drives cannot be found. Something is wrong with finding hardware as a whole. I will try a low level reformat to see if that works.

What i thought to be the maxtor reformatting program didnt work. It just errored out when i tried to open it up. I try to run a dos diagnostic tool supplied by maxtor and that doesnt even find my hard drive in my computer, but it finds my cd drives...

Im extremely confused here as to what is wrong

HI,

Perhaps you have sata drives installed, this could be what your problem is regarding the devices not being found. Seeing that you have a fx-55 processor, i'd suspect you also have other high end hardware hooked up, if not only SATA, but also a RAID set up.

Without you giving the system specs though, it is not easily determined.
