Hi, I cant login in to hotmail. Everytime I login it prompts me to type a security code. I do so then it asks for my email again. After doing that it prompts me to write a security code and so on... I think this might be a phishing scam to get my password but im not sure. I've deleted all my browser cookies to see if it helps but to no avail. here is the site it redirects to:
http://hipservice.passport.net/forcehip.srf?id=2&ru=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2ehotmail%2emsn%2ecom%2fcgi%2dbin%2fsbox&tk=6AAAAAAAAH%21CEx7raXo%2a8No3rA8rNam%2aDT0pte4wHjeIejKepoWqxHsGjNizyqca48Tc%2anyzGpjkE%24&lc=1033

I really dont think this is hotmail's own. Can anyone help i really need to access my email and i cant make new one as i run my business from this for now.

I just tried it and had the same thing happen, but the second time I tried I got in. Maybe they are just very busy.

Hey there,

It's a valid Microsoft page, and it's not anyone phishing - although I'll admit I'd be dubious about the URL too!

From Microsoft:

"The characters you are being asked to enter is part of the Human Interactive
Proof (HIP) validation process we have implemented to verify valid users and
to help stop both incoming and outgoing unsolicited mail (SPAM). This
security measure helps make it very difficult for spammers to employ
automated programs that use the Hotmail system to send unsolicited e-mail.

We're continually evaluating the process to ensure that we limit the number
of customers receiving multiple challenges. We are already taking measures
to help improve this process in the upcoming releases."

It shouldn't, of course, be sending you in an infinite loop, and it's most likely as the other fellow here suggested - they're busy, and as with so many other Microsoft products, when they get overly busy, they fall over! I'd just keep trying. Let us know if you get in :)

Thanks for your time, but still no luck. I've already translated a dutch forum topic about this problem but for them it goes after a while. I've tried at least 10 times this morning in a continuos struggle to gain access to my email. Once (if) I get in ill let everyone know about it. By the way, I've tried deleting Temporary Internet Files and clearing History as instructed on a nother forum but to no avail.
I'll just have to wait and see...

You're welcome - always glad to try and help, although in this case (with it being the ever-reliable Hotmail) there's not much I can do!

Yep, I've looked at several articles too, and all of them seem to point to it fixing itself after a while - not an ideal solution, but it does seem like MS are messing things up.

Whilst it's not an actual solution to the problem, have you considered trying GMail? I've used Hotmail for years now, but I've pretty much dumped my accounts there for Gmail these days. 2Gb mail storage, I've never known it go down yet, and it just generally works much better than Hotmail. If you'd like to give it a try, let me know and I'll happily use one of my invite codes to get you up and running.

-Andy

Thanks a lot. The hotmail account is still not working, but i've pretty much had enough of microsoft now. If you could send me one of your invites that would be great. I've created a new email address for you to kindly send an invite, as i have heard google isn't offering the email service to everyone yet.
Thanks again.

You're welcome! Invite is sent - check your inbox when you get a chance :) Any problems, just let me know.

You're right - GMail isn't making the service available to everyone just yet, but they do have a *huge* number of users already - the only catch being you need to be invited to try it. One less thing to worry about now, at least!

I've been using it for a good while now, and really I only go back to my hotmail accounts once in a month or so to check if anything's been delivered there. But like many people, I'm always keen to try any Microsoft alternatives :)

Hmmm ... just got returned with a "mailbox disabled for recipient" error. You might want to check your E-Mail inbox to check everything's OK?

*laughs* It figures - the moment you get a replacement, it's like Microsoft can sense it somehow!

You're welcome - enjoy! :)
