|Good Day To You'll,|
I hope you can assist me with the issues that I am about to present you with. I have just acquired a Compaq laptop from a very dear friend. I have a desk top but I love this laptop. The problem first started when she tried reinstalling Vista on the laptop, WHY you ask?. I have no idea she said that she was upgrading it, when it already had Vista installed. She is not computer knowledgeable to much. I will lament my issues for you in point form to try and make it easier for you to understand.
1- When I try installing Vista, as it gets to the point of where to install windows at the bottom of the box it has a warning that states: This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu. And when I select next I get another waring that states,: Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation.
2- When I go the Start Up Check (F2) as it gets to Primary Hard Disk Self test when it gets to 10% it gives a very scary warning that STATES:1720- S.M.A.R.T. Hard Drive detects imminent failure (Failing ATTR:XX). Please backup the contents of the hard drive and run HDD self test in F10 setup.
3- When I perform a Hard Disk self test Long Test it giving me the same error as when I do the start up check, (se previous issue).
4- Also I have gotten the Error -0X80042453 when trying to do a system recovery which I suspect is useless as I cannot gt to anything, not even to boot in SAFE MODE.
By the way the HARDDRIVE is a new one.
