Comment:

I have my cd-rom as the master and the dvd as the slave. None of them show up on My Computer. What could I be doing wrong.
I have also tried each drive seprately(each as a master) and they also do not show up on My Computer.
When I start up my computer, I notice that it does recognize that I have it hooked up.

I'm confused?

Make sure the IDE controllers they're connected to are enabled in cmos/bios setup.

Go to the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. See if they are recognized there.

Go into the Device manager in your Control Panel. Click the "+" beside the CD/DVD-ROM line. If you see your CD/DVD-ROM, right click on it/them and then Uninstall. Restart the computer and have WindowsXP reinstall the drivers for that CD/DVD-ROM. After you get back in and Windows still hasn't detected your CD/DVD-ROM, I would go download a spyware remover such as Adaware or Spybot (both free). Let us know how it goes.
