Solved cannot detect modem after reinstalling Windows XP pro

Specs: Windows XP
no modem detected on reinstalled XP. I used a Dell reinstalation CD on my Gateway PC which worked but "no modem detected" keeps me from going any futher. I am connected to a satellite modem. I tried to use the Dell driver and utilities CD, but it will not allow instalation. Can I download the right software(GatewayE4100) on my laptop and transfer to Desktop? Should I start over with XP, try to find a Gateway version instead of Dell? Does it make a differance?

Well, no it doesn't make a difference if you used the Dell XP disc, you will have to do the activation using the windows key on the bottom of the gateway, but you should not use the dell drivers disc. You need to download the drivers for your gateway and install them.
