cannot burn dvd windows xp

Specs: Windows XP, 4 g/b
I have used Magix Photos on CD and DVD to create what Magix calls a "movie". Having gone through the process of creating the movie file the last step is to burn a DVD. The program requests that I load a blank DVD and after a short while the DVD tray opens again and the same message appears. I have tried countless blank DVD's all with the same result. I have tried another DVD burner program which also fails to recognise the DVD.

Are you sure you don't have to format the DVD first?

DVD's don't need to be formatted. Formatting a disc is for the old drag and drop burning method.
