In most cases you can clear the cmos and that will erase the password.

With the power cable disconnected, locate the clear cmos jumper on the motherboard. Jumper it to the 'clear' positioin for a few seconds and then back to normal/standby. Then start up the computer and see if you can enter setup. You'll need to set the date and any other non-default settings.

If you have a laptop and not a desktop you'll need to consult its manual.

You only need a BIOS password to access the BIOS, not access the computer. If you're asking about a laptop, there's nothing any of us can do to help. You will have to call the manufacturer & they will most likely require proof of legal ownership before they'll help you.

Hi didhebiteya ,

Welcome to the community,

Adding to what DAVEINCAPS said ,I would also recommend you to contact the manufacturer as some manufacturers can generate a “master password” for a particular laptop (from their service tag) if sufficient proof of ownership is provided. Others would advise replacing the laptop’s motherboard. On some old laptops the BIOS password can still be reset relatively easy.

Thanks & Regards
