Specs: Windows 7
My IP5200 has been idle for sometime. I have plugged it back in and both the green and orange light flash alteratively. Also when I lift top cover the printer cartridges will not move.

leaving an inkjet printer idle "for some time" spells death to that printer, It's okay for it to be idle in the warehouse in an unassembled state, but once it has been assembled by the user it needs to be used at least a couple of times a week.

Green and orange light flashing means it needs to go back to Canon for service repair, though you may find it's almost same cost as a new printer. But unless you intend to use it every week, don't buy an inkjet.

If you only need a printer ocassionally you should ask a friend to do it for you on their printer.
