Hello, I used to build my own desktops but its been 10 years since I last built one and don't have time to research what I need. Is there a non ripoff company you can recommend to build me a gaming desktop? It has to be as small as possible since I will travel with it but will need to push quake live at 250 fps on low to mid settings. Thanks.
Your best bet is to check out your local shops or inquire in your area as to who does it. The process is still the same, only the components are more sophisticated today. Just Google how to build a good gaming machine.
I suggest you build again. Quake Live is basically Quake 3 Arena so the system requirements are very low by today's standards. You could probably get by with with an APU & no graphics card unless you plan on playing more demanding games as well. Or you could add a card later if you find the APU graphics are inadequate. Since you plan on traveling with it, I'd suggest a SSD over a conventional HDD. Is a laptop out of the question?
