I have this computer on hold actually at the local pawn shop. I was able to get the Dell service tag number, but wasn't able to check for sure on a few features that I just recently found out that the computer model had. The only one I am concerned about is Bluetooth. Can someone be kind enough as to look through the ciphered Dell list of the original system config and see if any of it mentions a Bluetooth device, and also see if it has the Nvidea 6800 or 7800? Thanks.

Try Google next time instead of expecting someone to read thru all of that.

If you take a little time to look things over, the "code" isn't very difficult to decypher, especially since you already know the make/model - Dell XPS M710 & can easily check the specs.
"CRD,GRPHC,256MB,NV42,XPS-GEN2"
256MB graphics card. NV42 = GeForce 6800 series. Scroll about 1/2 way down the following page & find the 6800 Chipset Table:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForc...
"PRC,80536,PMD,760,PGA,C0"
Processor = Pentium-M Dothan 760. It runs at 2.0GHz, not 3.0GHz, with a 533MHz FSB. And FYI, "Centrino" is NOT a type of CPU....it's the name given to a specific hardware configuration which includes Intel wireless.
"CRD,NTWK,MPCI,2200LF,NA"
Mini-PCI Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 network card. Bluetooth is not listed. According to Dell, it was an option at the time of purchase & apparently the original owner didn't go for it.

If you wanna check, here's where to look:

BTW, that notebook sold for about $3000 in early 2005...how much is the pawn shop asking?

BTW, it appears that it originally came with just 512MB RAM:
"DIMM,512MB,533,64X64,8K,200"
RAM can be easily upgraded so more may have been added later...are you sure there's 1GB?

I would be very cautious of buying a laptop from a pawnshop.
Be sure you can boot to the BIOS (setup) and make changes there and that you can access WinMCE.
If the laptop was stolen it may have passwords enabled that can't be broken.
BTW, would have preferred you post the service tag number instead of all that stuff and then in all caps yet.

OK let me see if i can answer these one thing at a time.
First, sorry I didn't think about just putting the service tag number. That was stupid on my part, but I was half-asleep and didn't think about it. On top of that, I tried numerous Google searches but came up with nothing. Maybe I was searching wrong or something. Also, the CNET specs list every available option, so it was no help to me (I had looked at it previously).
Second, it does have 1 GB of RAM.
Third, I'm kinda disappointed about the fact it doesn't have BT, but I don't have anything that really needs it to begin with. It would've just been a nice convenience for in the future.
Fourth, Was expecting the 6800 to show up. Woulda been nice for it to have had the 7800, but as jam said, the original owner didn't go for it.
Finally, the pawn shop wanted $800 for it. It's in perfect condition, and the only blemishes are scratches are on the top removable plastic silver piece with the Dell logo and one of the LEDs in the left "XPS" logo on the lid flashes erratically every now and then (easy fix if i have/want to). Everything else looks like new. The Windows OS booted up fine and everything worked as it should. I did however have a problem starting up the Media Center part (btw no passwords at all on the accounts). When I tried to start the MC browser, it showed an error saying the .NET Framework had to be reinstalled. I have already downloaded .NET 2.0 and have it ready and waiting to be installed when I get the computer. Everything except for those items was in good working order. The only thing I didn't check was the BIOS, the DVD drive, or the card reader. This is mainly because this is not the first time I've bought computers from this particular pawn shop, and I am well aware of all the tests they do to them before putting them out for sale. So I wasn't and still am not worried. When I went into make a payment once (it's on a sort of layaway), the guy made the comment that the woman (a college student no less) who brought it in also showed him the invoice where she paid about $5000 for it. It's rare that they get computers that good in that shop, so I jumped on the opportunity.

I seriously doubt the original owner paid "about $5,000" for the laptop. Not sure how old this thing is, but I think you're paying too much considering you can get a brand new XPS for less than $1,000.
"So won’t you give this man his wings

We’re not all the same
What a shame" - Shinedown

Actually, a comparable new XPS system is about $1800. By the way, the 1730 and the 170 share nearly the same case.

OK, I maybe embellished that a little. It was more like near $4000, but she did bring in a PO where she bought it direct from Dell in late 2005. On top of that, I'm a HS student who can't really afford to drop 1800+ bucks on a new computer.
