can not format c drive

hi,
i booted from windows 98 cd.in fdisk i made c partition active.i rebooted from 98 cd.when i m trying to format c: ,firt it was giving error can not read c: drive ,then i formatted c: with 98 setup and again tried now its give error invalid command.
pls help .
also my fdd is not working i wanna boot from dos or ms dos disk can i write it on cd and boot from that cd icopied ms-dos bootable on cd but how to make cd bootable.
pls help

Someone, it's hard to understand what you did. Before you post, think it out, put in some periods and commas so we can understand your problem. If I understand correctly you tried to use your WIN98 system disk to repartition and fdisk??? I think what you mean is that you used the boot disk to reset your partitions, right?
Sounds like you got a bunch of old garbage on your disk that must be removed before you can set your C partition and make it active.
In fdisk, if you see 5 options available, you still have old partitions in there that must be removed. You must remove them IN THIS ORDER:
#1: logical drives
#2: extended partitions
#3: main, active partition
Now reset your main partition (the entire disk) and make it primary and active. Go back out to DOS prompt, switch to your ROM drive letter, type SETUP.exe and you are on your way.
