I have recently bought new 1 GB RAM for my desktop. I have already 256 MB RAM. I would like to know can I use both ram in my system same time?

Depends on the type of RAM,

are they both DDR or DDR2.

yes it was not compatible ram. I didn't know what is DDR1 or DDR2? I am so keen to know computing terminology. and I want to troubleshoot my pc by own. so I have joined one online computer training course. I feel it would be quite easy to fix computer problem.
Thanks for your valuable reply.
