My God man, did you have to post all that? Wouldn't it have been simpler to just post the exact model number off the case? Compaq Presario 5xxxx??

There are dozens of cards that will work. I see you're running Linux (Ubuntu) & with just 512MB RAM, it probably doesn't run all that great. So what is the purpose of the upgrade? Just for the desktop effects? What do want, the "cube"?
