Solved Can I upgrade my GPU card?

Specs: Win XP SP3 32-bit, Intel Core2 Duo E7500@2.93 GHz 4GB Ram
Is it possible to upgrade from (Palit) 9500 GT Super+1GB DDR2 card to a GTS 450 (with the option to choose between 2GB DDR3, 1GB GDDR5, 1GB DDR3)? MY motherboard is Asus P5PQPL-AM with 1 PCI Express x16 expansion slot. My power supply is Cougar 550 (480 watts, 550 watts peak power), 2 PCI-Express connectors (6-pin/6+2pin). Thanks in advance.

The 9500GT never was a very good card, strictly low end & not much for gaming. The GTS 450 is MUCH better, although there are better choices out there. When possible, always go with GDDR5 over DDR3/GDDR3.

EDIT: I just had a look at your board specs. It says "Support PCIe 1.1 Architecture". PCIe 2.1 cards may not work.

According to Asus, my board's PCI-E bus support is backwards compatible, so no worries there and besides, the 9500GT is PCI-E 2.0 x 16 architecture and so are the GTS 450's. And also I would have to upgrade my PSU to a higher wattage if I opt for a higher end card. Thanks for the advice, it helps knowing you're on the right track.
