I have a Hitachi Visionbook Pro 7755 and one of the memory sockets is damaged. Several pins are bent and one or tow are broken off.
Is there any way to repair or replace this socket? Is my only option to replace the motherboard?

I think that would depend on whether or not the main board is multi-layered or not. If it is a single layered board it would take someone with experience and the proper tools for removing and replacing the socket.

I would send it back in to the manufacturer. They would know what to do. Just ask them what you should do, replace the mother board or just the memory slot. They would know best.

I have done it a couple times and it is very difficult. Used a heat gun, solder pen, etc. But I had the connectors available to me. Definitely go to the MFG.

Well, I checked with a local repair shop and they can do it for $150-275 plus parts. Ouch! The laptop is only worth about $200.
I don't think Hitachi would do it for less, if they would even do it.
