Can I mix memory?

I know I can't mix DDR ram with SDRAM but can I mix these ones that say pc2700 with other types like PC3200?

Simple answer is no. To explain, the faster memory will be slowed down to match the slower memory. Kinda of a waste of faster memory. Just set aside the slower card in case the faster card poops out.

Well of course you CAN mix them, but what Seti was trying to say is WHY? You won't get the speed of PC3200 if mixed with 2700, and the mobo won't be able to keep them in dual channel mode either.
