Solved can I install a 3.0 cpu or higher

Specs: Windows 7, cpu 2.8/ 2 gig
can't upgrade from Win 7 pro to 8 or 8.1 pro on 32 bit sys, current cpu is 2.8 ghz without NX switching. system memory speed 333mhz, sys bus speed 533mhz, mother board Intel 82845G

I believe your system is an eMachines T3882. Gateway bought eMachines & was then bought out by Acer. Acer killed off the eMachines brand a few years ago.

Anyhow, why would you want to "upgrade" to Win8, especially on such an outdated system with only 2GB RAM max? Stick with Win7 until you're able to get a system that's less than 10 yrs old & has the hardware necessary to run a modern OS.

riider is right, the system is just too old, in fact i am almost surprised that it is not running XP. Stick with Windows 7 and add more memory if possible for a better experience overall. If it is not bearable then consider a new machine is it is possible financially for you.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
