I really would like to fit a 3rd HDD to my MSI P45 Diamond Motherboard, does anyone know if this is at all possible?

Remove side case and see how many SATA controllers you have or check documentation on Diamonds website. I would be more worried about how many Drive bays you have.

The motherboard will support up to 8 SATA devices, so adding a third hard disk is no problem.

Thanks guys for the swift reply, and please excuse the simple questions...I have plenty of bays for the HDD but the leads coming from the 2 HDDs already installed are connected to 2 sockets in the motherboard, I can't seem to find any other similar sockets on the board. Additionally I want the 3rd hard drive to be a Solid State Drive, will this make a difference. Will try and track down the manual. Once again thanks for helping me out. Si

You can find the manual here: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=do...

The position of the various connectors is shown on p. 13. I'm guessing that your current disks are connected to SATA 7 & SATA 8, so you'll want to use one of SATA 1-6. These connectors are on the edge of the board, near SATA 7 & 8, at right-angles to it.
