If you've installed software for a webcam but there is no webcam then when running that software it's likely you'll get the 'can't find webcam' error message.

But supposing there is one, I'm sure the manual that came with the system will tell you where it's at.

If you have a laptop the camera is usually built into the frame of the display. A spot like a glass disk on the middle top portion about .25 in. in diameter

If it is functioning then it needs the drivers - both the motherboard and the camera and application software that uses the camera. The drivers from the system manufacturer.

Think I have the same issue but don't understand your solution. I had a virus and Dell Support sent me Windows 7 and installed it for me. However, I no longer see the webcam icon. I searched the " all programs" and don't see it. I went to the device mgr. and said it is installed with the latest version and functioning properly. So what steps do I take now?
