can cds/dvds wear out?

suppose you watch a dvd over and over again would the quality be affected?

or if you listened to a cd over and over again?

for example i know with tape for example vhs if you watched it over and over the picture would get snowy and the quality wouldnt be as good as when you watched it the first time

It's more about how you take care of the media and less about how many times it has been read.

If you watch a DVD once and allow your kids & Clifford to play disc gold with it later, you probably won't be using that disc for anything more than a coaster after that.

Don’t spend two dollars to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the Salvation Army instead. They’ll clean it and put it on a hanger - Next morning buy it back for seventy-five cents.

The only thing that touches a CD when it's playing is the laser beam. That's not going to cause much (if any) wear and tear. Like stated above, it's the handling and exposure to light that does all the damage. Store your CDs/DVDs is a cool dark place.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
