I have a Toshiba Tecra M4 laptop that I am trying to repair. I have tried various things already (see this older thread for more details). But for this new thread, suffice it to say I am now looking for the BIOS chip itself to see if I can pull it out and replace it with a new one.
Can anyone tell me if they can see the BIOS chip in the photos below? If not, then perhaps what potential areas I could take apart to search some more?
Here is an overall picture:

The BIOS files I found on the Toshiba site are meant to be flashed from within Windows. This unit should still be covered under the 3 year warranty. Is there some reason why you don't want to have it repaired by Toshiba?

Well, it was my workplace that bought this laptop. They don't deal with broken laptops because they just buy new ones each year.
But I thought that would still be such a waste to throw it away. So I asked to have it. I think I might be able to fix it. I plan to find the chip and see if I can swap it out.
I can try calling Toshiba too. But I wasn't sure if I would have to go through my company's IT department or something.

In your other thread you said it was your friends laptop...now you say it's a broken work laptop.
I don't see anything that resembles a BIOS chip, then again, I'm not very familiar with laptop boards. There are plenty of ID numbers that you should be googling to try to determine the make/model of the board. My guess is the entire board needs replacing.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, it was my friend's. And yes, it is from our workplace.
But anyway, thanks for the tips so far. I'll try googling any numbers I find on the board.
That ebay link looks expensive. $100 "off"? That means the actual cost is like, what 200 or 300? Probably not worth it.
I was thinking more along the lines of paying $25 for a new chip at http://www.biosman.com/

You don't even know if the BIOS chip is the problem...you're just guessing. Personally, I'm leaning toward the graphics, & since they're integrated into the motherboard, the board would have to be replaced...but I'm just guessing too.
