The 8300GS is an extremely low end card. Does it have an HDMI port? If it does & you want to send audio over the HDMI cable, you will need to change the default audio setting to the HD audio controller. I believe doing this will disable sound to the PC speakers so if you want to use the speakers again, you will have to go back & change the default back to the motherboard audio again.

Post the exact make/model of the card you have.

You need a GT220/240 or any 400 series Nvidia card if you want HDMI audio. AMD cards since the HD2000 series also have HDMI audio.

Thanks Micklliq
The card does,nt have HDMI the modle of the card I have is a nvidia geforce 8300gs 128mg DD2 V/D/VO. I was looking for a card that can cope with playing downloaded films on to my TV through a HMDI that can handle HD and sound and 3D if possible. One card i was looking at is a nvidia geforce 9500 GT HD HDMI, is this card ok or to much just to watch films. My pc is a Packard bell Duo PCU E4500 @ 2.20GHz RAM 2Gig with 1 PCI-E slot for graphics card

Make sure the card has an HDMI port, not a DisplayPort.
