Hello,
My friend has a Compaq Presario V3500 laptop and his camera uses a Canon Compactflash card (says FC-32MH on it). There is nowhere on the laptop to plug it in, so how do I connect it?

Ah thanks for that. Yea I found out that certain laptop can't read compactflash cards but it can read 5 other types, so I'll tell my friend he'll have to get a card reader
Thanks.

Isn't there a USB cable that came with the camera?

As jennifer mentions, a USB cable is a easy and safe way to access the camera memory.
IMO card readers are only necessary if you use multiple memory cards in a device. Like a professional photographer does. I have a digital camera that I haven't removed the 512MB card from since I bought the card. No reason to as it has more than enough capacity for my needs.
