Hi,
I have a strange buzzing noise coming from my laptop for long periods of time. It appears and dissapear ssemeingly randomly. I have a novatech (as shop in portsmouth, england) own brand laptop. Does anyone have any ideas I coudl try to stop the buzzing? I already tried removing everything removable and putting them back. The noise appears in both linux and win2k so I suspect it is not software related.

Check the cooling fan. On laptops, they are usually thermally controlled (to save battery power), hence the random effect. Fan may be going bad, or just dirty. HTH
