Im trying to get my dvd burner to work in my computer, the bios recognizes it and has installed it in windows. I can read things fine with it, but when it comes to writing (I write in nero) it always gives me a communication failed error. I don’t know what to do to fix it. Also my drive light blinks with my computer activity light when the drive is in use....o.O didn’t do that with my old one. Any help would be great! Thx all.

When I bought my sony DVD burner, it stated that I was to remove all nero burning software. It caused problems that you are seeing. But mine is one of the first DVD burners out there, so I don't know if there was ever a fix. Sounds like not though.

I would be checking Nero site for upgrades, service packs etc...was this the software that came with your burner? What version of Nero? I sincerley hope you don't have two burning programs installed, that is almost worse than 2 antivirus programs!

It did not come with any software, but i am using Nero 6.3...and yes i have many burning programs installed. - Nero - Diskjuggler - Alcohol - Roxio Easy CD Recording....Lol
For how its cabled on the IDE Bus, you mean primary/secondary (master/slave)...? If you do its on the secondary channel, master. But i've tried moving it around...

May not have anything to do with problem, but I would remove Roxio or Nero, they do not "play" together well at all.Alcohol is a different animal.

I second Rich's post. I had an identical problem & found that even when not in use Roxio had it's hooks into the DVD burner & wouldn't let go. Deinstalled it, and Nero, then rebooted & reinstalled Nero, problem gone. Worked for me. Bob Mitchell.
