I just installed a new Plextor 740A burner replacing a dead HP Lightscribe drive.

I have had problems from the get go. Computer freezing up and making coasters.

I have removed Roxio because drag to disk was freezing up. Maybe the plextor drive and drag to disk was conflticting.

My question is that I have several dvd-rw that I use for backups. I can read them just fine but can't burn to them anymore. Can I still burn to them without re-installing the roxio crap? Windows XP pops up saying that I have to format them before I can burn to them which I don't want to do.

I use nero to burn dvd's and always used windows explorer for dvd-rw.

Depending on how you burned the RW discs originally you may have to format them first. For example if you closed the session.

Grok, I searched Nero's site and couldn't find anything about "BDB" files.

Michael, They were formatted using drag to disk.

Are there any programs that will work like drag to disk that will also alow me to write to my existing disks without having to format them?
