I just installed a new Enermax 350W Whisper series unit and after I installed it, my sister and my girlfriend both noted they smelt some type of a burning smell in the room.

The psu has one intake and one output fans, and as far as I can tell I don't really think anything is burning...but maybe really hot?

The fans are all working on all components and my computer is working fine as well and it's been about a few days since I've installed it. For me the smell is more of like freshly opened plastic packaging or something like that but it's gone something to do with the heat for sure I guess.

My question is, do any of you with fans on your psu's notice this smell as well, or am I an unfortunate soul who has gotten a faulty psu?

Any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks, Martin

Well I have noticed a strong odor from new power supplies before and if all is working properly I would give it a few more days and see if the smell dissipate's. If it does not you might considering contacting them and asking for a replacement.

If your tower is heating up then get you PSU changed. You might find that (if it's a mini PSU) it can't handle all the peripherals
