Burner only burns at 2x

Hey fellas, I have a eMachines M5405 Laptop, comes with the Slimtype Combo LSC-24082k Dvd/Cd-rw Drive. Capable of 24x read and write! Heres my problem, as of lately I've only been able to burn (not sucessfully) at 2x. Using the lastest nero, 6.6 With no CD in the drive, and using nero's System Info, it says read speed 8x, write speed 24x Now if I put in a cd (tried two makes so far), rated at 48x... and I refresh the Info window, it says read speed 8x... write speed 2x. and I can't change the write speed.. Help me please guys, Ive reinstalled the drivers for the Cdrom, reinstalled nero... Help, Thanks

never mind fellas.... YOu dont know the wonders of a disk cleaner... Fixed it right up... guess the lens was just dirty...

Summary: I bought a sony cd burner (oem), and it's supposed to burn at 52x. I bought a 2 spindles of 52x compatible cds, one from sony and one from memorex. they both only burn at 40x max. any ideas ont hat?...
