what you guys think?

If you don't need a microATX board, dump the A7V400-MX & get something based on the nForce2 chipset. Here's a good one:

Also, you should consider getting a AthlonXP mobile CPU. They're cheap, highly overclockable, run cooler, have an unlocked multiplier & are based on the Barton core. Don't let the slow default speed scare ya off...this thing will easily run as a 3200+ (2.2GHz)

Do NOT go less than 350W for the PSU. Make sure to get a quality unit with at least 18A on the +12v rail. Here's one that gets recommended alot around here:

As for the HDD, Circuit City has a Western Digital 80GB 7200rpm 8MB buffer on sale this week for $35 after rebate.
Does it have to be a LCD monitor? Office Depot has the 19" KDS Xtreme flat screen CRT monitor on sale for $90 after rebate

The KT600 is limited in it's overclockability, but it's only slightly slower than an nForce board.

Firstly, your power supply should be fine for a microATX board. You will NOT need the ethernet card since the motherboard comes with one on it. Save the ethernet card just in case tho. Make sure your case fits your motherboard type. You might want to go with 2x512MB RAM sticks (2700). Lastly, make sure you check the diagram provided with your motherboard on where to plug everything in. I had some issues with wiring my front USB with the first comp I built. Of course, Dell purposely makes their stuff so that it isnt compatible with my vision. b---tards... Good luck!

I'll just say that unless she is doing a lot of graphics design or 3D modelling, she does NOT need a full gigabyte of RAM. 512MB of DDR RAM is plenty for the average user.

And take the suggestion of going with XP Pro with a grain of salt. Unless you plan to run this PC in a network domain environment then Home will do everything you need.
