Building custom computer for a Video Editor

Specs: Windows 7
Hey Guys,

I'm a video editor and I;m trying to build a custom built system to do freelance work on.
I'm not very savvy on the hardware side of things and was wondering if anyone could assist me in building a good system. It should not be overpriced but capable of carrying out my requirements.

I'm currently looking for stuff on newegg, tigerdirect and amazon.

Look for i3 or i5 or i7 sandy bridge, 6 or 8gb of ram(ddr3 1.5v), mobo with intel chipset but not intel mobo, hdd(500gb or more 7200 rpm, 16 or 32mb of cache) or if u have big budget buy ssd and hdd, 500 or 550w psu with single +12v rail(corsair, rosewill etc.), a decent v-card like geforce 450 GTS.

Have a look at this page. You can also consider a Mac. I understand that most studios like Disney etc. use Macs.

I would only consider a core i7, 8G ram minimum and a video card above $150 dollars for video. This would be minimums too. Might need an ssd or raid array on a hardware raid card too.

Knowing what application you plan to use would help too.

You may also need a firewire device for inputting from a camera.
