Ive recently just recieved my parts from tigerdirect and have started building my computer already. So far, ive had no problems with adding the mobo, the CPU, and the Cooler fan. For the Harddrive and the DVD drive, Ive had no problem with that. Graphics card, and Ram all finished.

Now the problems that I am having are:

Sound card. I bought a Creative Labs Sound Blaster 24 bit. That only came with the card itself. I added it into a slot on my mobo, but i seem to be missing alot of cables that are supposed to fit in my sound card. Such as a white 11 pin cable, and a 4 pin black cable. Creative Labs did not give me any of those cables, nor did my Asus mobo. Ive read that I had to connect the Audio cable from the front of my case (it came with my case already) to my sound card, but the pins don't match. It looks like this. :.:::
That pattern of pins can only connect to an audio slot on my mobo, but I want to use my sound card for sounds.
I also have another cable that never came with my DVD drive or my Sound card. Its the audio cable that connects from my sound card to my DVD drive.
Please tell me if i need any of these cords in order to use the sound card, because the manual for Creative labs did not say I needed any of the cords and to use plug it in the PCI slot. All i want is to play sound using my speakers, nothing else.

My next problem im having is the power cables. Ive plugged the necessary 24 pin power cable to my mobo. And the 4 square pin to another slot. All the tape cables have been connected to my drives.

Though I am having alot of difficulty with my fans. My power cords offer a 4 pin fan connectors. So what do i do. Do i connect my fans to any of my power cords, then connect any of the fan connects to the slots on the mobo? Or does it have to be from a specific fan connector. Does it matter which fan connector i connect to on my Mobo.

My last problem would have to be my graphics card power connector. It came with 2 3 pin connectors that are supposed to connect to the power supply. Can i use a 3 pin connector for this?

Here are my problems in a simpler way.

-Sound card, missing cords, and do i need them.

-Fans and power supply, do they have to be connected in a specific way, or do they all link to one another.

-Graphics card came with 2 3 pin connectors, is that ok?

I am not planning to hire a computer technician, because i don't want to go through all the hassle and paying, etc.

If you could help, all would be appreciated, thanks alot.

You won't need either of those two cables for the sound card :)

The one from your dvd to the sound card allows you to play cd's/music dvd's straight from the drive without using software, but it's not necessary.

The other one that goes to the fron tof the case allows you to use the plug in the front of the case as opposed to the one on the soundcard itself.

Once again it is not needed, and the output quality from the front jacks is usually terrible anyway :)

Good luck!
Jay
