Currently the problem is BSODs and sudden Hangs. Just changed out the old HDD and Ram chip. only thing i have noticed that is different is the memory is alot hotter running then the old chip.
----system Specs----
Compaq 731usAmd athlon 4 1.2ghz
256mbs on board, 512mbs extended.
S3 twister k graphics AGP4x
Soundmax onboard sound.Anyone else have this problem. on a laptop? Not to sure what it could be. Any help would be great.
Destroy everything, ask questions later.

was the old ram bad? was the old hdd bad? put the old ram back in see if that helps. was it a clean install onto the new hdd or did you use an image or what? i have had problems with cloning hdd's maybee i am no good at it but clean install alwys works best.

I agree, try it without the new RAM.
Memory tests

New HDD was a clean install. I have noticed that if i keep my hand on the mem panel it seem to keep the comp from doing a bsod on me. but i dont know if i could mod the panel to keep the mem cool i got an extra panel incase i screw it up. so should i try to cut some vent hole to help the heat get away from the memory?

i don't know that i would be cutting anything up. i assume everything was working fine before the upgrades? i think i would find out what is going on with new parts instead of useing time to do some poor mans machineing on a laptop. reseat the ram check, to see if there is something blocking the airflow, what little there is. did you try takeing this ram out and boot with origial mem. just to see if bsod persists.
