BSOD after reimaging

Toshiba / M30-s350
June 29, 2009 at 16:07:53
Specs: Windows XP Pro
My laptop was running very slow so I decided
to reimage it using the original dvd that came
with it.
After the reimage, it went through the usual
questions, like accepting the EULA, etc. After
the screen where I am asked to name the
computer and give a description, the comp
gets a BSoD and then reboots and brings me
back to the naming the computer screen.

I have tried formatting the drive and installing a
retail version o XP Pro, without any problem.
Then I reimaged again using the recovery
DVD, Still the same problem.

Could someone please help or advise.

When you are imaging do you have any memory cards, external PC cards, etc inserted? I guess I am asking if the laptop is like it came out of the box when you are restoring.

I had additional RAM inserted in the laptop. I removed the extra
memory and tried imaging it again, but with the same result.

The BSoD goes away too fast to see what the message is.
Although I think I saw the something is not equal, etc.

Next time tap the pause key to freeze the screen. Any key to resume (space bar).

Has the additional RAM been working OK? Is it all recognized correctly and as the FULL amount?

Thanks....I tried to hit pause, but it doesn't work.

Windows had been working earlier with the additional RAM. I installed a retail version of XP with the additional RAM
without any issues. The BSoD comes when I use the recovery disc.
I called Toshiba help desk, and they said that it could be an
issue with a bad driver in the recovery disc. They are sending a
new disc (no charge, even though it is out of warranty)
