ok so i bought a brother mfc-210c all in one printer scanner, fax deal. i currently have a phone system w/ an answering machine plugged into one phone jack and this printer pluggeed into another, all on the same home phone line. now, im not sure how to set up the fax. can anyone else w/ a brother help me? i can either set it up for Fax Only (not the right option), Fax/Tel (maybe), or External TAD (possibly right). i dont have a reciever or other phone or anything plugged into the ext line on the AIO itself.

Well if you don't have a phone, then you can set it up for Fax only but the problem is you are only going to be able to use the answering machine or the fax machine. You can't have both on the same line and have them both work. Either the fax machine will answer or the answering machine will.

all depends on how you set the rings for each unit. You can use all on the same line.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

It would seem that the one that answers on the fewest rings, would effectively disable the other one.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Well of course you can put both on the same line but what I was getting at was what Ham30 said, the one set to the fewest rings is going to be the one that kicks in first. Basicly, you can't use both on the same line.
