I have a friends computer in parts needing repair. She said it just didn't work one day. She has three teenage boys who take apart the case all the time and tinker around(one of them built it). I brought it over and opened it up to find NO ram. I took some from my system and tried to start it up. I got a lit LED light but nothing beeped or seem to post on the motherboard. The screen stayed blank on the monitor. I noticed when I pushed in the ram that the board had no holding braces behind it in the center and the board simply bowed in until I was able to push the ram in. I figured that whoever played with it before might have damaged the board. Is there anything else I could try before I buy them a new board? I tried taking the CMOS jumper off to and reattaching all power cables. Nothing. The board IS getting power the fans spin and all.. but nothing else!
Help please!

try taking out the vid card and replacing it might have moved out if the board bows . it must be missing standoffs under the board if it is bowing when putting in ram . make sure they are put in

Are you sure you have compatible ram?Have you tried 1 ram stick only?Tested each ram slot that way?

yes, one stick of 3200 kingmax ram... It should be compatible. I had it in another xp board. I tried each ram slot with the same stick, nothing.

If the board is not properly secured to the case, then in time it will fail anyway. It would be best to get a new case. To see if the board works, disassemble the computer and assemble the psu, board, cpu, ram, and graphics card on a table. Bridge the boards power on pins with a knife or something.

Your RAM may not be compatible with your MOBO. What MOBO do you have?

How much time, energy, and money are you willing to devote to this project?
